Weddings Ceremony FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I meet with my Celebrant?
As soon as you have set the date it is a good idea to meet with your Celebrant. Please keep in mind that peak season is from September to April so like many other wedding suppliers, Celebrants can be booked well in advance. The Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) needs to be signed no less than 1 month and 1 day before your wedding date. For example, if your wedding date is the 16th October 2010, you need to have the NOIM filled in and signed by the 15th September 2010 at the very latest.
If you were born in Australia, your original birth certificates or extracts need to be sited before your wedding day. If you were born overseas, then your passport issued by that overseas government or your birth certificate must be sited.
What do I receive from my Celebrant?
Once you have booked your Celebrant and signed the NOIM, you will receive a brochure called Happily Ever, Before and After. This is given to all couples as part of the Marriage Act requirement. I also will give you a presentation folder with many ceremony and poem options, along with a copy of the booking form. A receipt is also issued once payment is made. Once you have looked through the ceremony ideas, you can email me your selections and I then produce a draft. If amendments are required I take the time to do this and then send you the updated draft. The ceremony you are happy with will be the one that is read on the wedding day.
How often do I meet with my Celebrant?
I like to get to know the couples that have booked me and therefore like to keep in continual contact by either email, text or phone. I offer up to 3 face to face meetings and you are welcome to contact me as often as needed in the lead up to your wedding day. I am more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
What about the Marriage Certificates?
On the wedding day, you will be required to sign three certificates immediately after the marriage has been solemnised. The Bride has to sign in her maiden name and you need to have two witnesses aged over 18 years old. You will be presented with your marriage certificate beautifully prepared in the font of your choice. This certificate is a keepsake only and cannot be used to change your name to your new married name. In order to do this, you will need to apply for the standard or official marriage certificate and I am able to provide you with the necessary form. You simply ‘fill in the gaps’ and send this to the Victorian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. They will then send you a certified copy of this marriage certificate.

Wedding Ceremony Styles & Options
I have a wide variety of poetry options that can be easily included into your marriage ceremony. You may like to consider having a close friend or family member read one or two poems for you on the day or I can read all poetry for you, it's totally up to you.
Music for your Wedding Ceremony
As part of my service, I like to offer to play the ceremony music to all couples that book me as their celebrant. You send me your CD or mp3 audio files of different songs and I go ahead and play it through my PA for you throughout the wedding ceremony.
Choosing the right Celebrant for you!
Be careful when shopping around for your celebrant to consider how you and the celebrant get along as a team as you will have several months, possibly a year that you need to work with them before the big day. Make sure you're comfortable with
